The Reed Quintet of the U.S. Air Force Band of the West performed a free concert of patriotic music at the Atlantis Center in Lynn Haven as part of its regional educational and public outreach mission.
The concert, held March 6, attracted more than 250 people to what was billed as a “Music, Hot Dogs and Apple Pie” event. Tristan Oliveria, newly installed as the commander of Naval Support Activity Panama City, delivered remarks.
The quintet has been traveling throughout the Gulf region in celebration of Music in Our Schools Month and America’s 250th birthday. The Bay County Chamber of Commerce and its Military Affairs Committee coordinated the group’s activities in Bay County, including performances at schools and other locations.
Karrie Bradshaw, the events coordinator at the Atlantis Center, declared the event a great success.
“This was our first large public event and an important step in establishing the Atlantis Center as a home for community celebrations,” Bradshaw said. The 133,000-square-foot facility, formerly home to a Sallie Mae student loan servicing facility, will host Florida State University Panama City’s commencement on May 3.
TechFarms, a business incubator with offices in Panama City Beach, is promoting the Atlantis Center as a multi-purpose facility well suited to offices, product development and light manufacturing activities and events both large and small.
